Music Video Evaluation

Within the process of making our music video we worked as a team in order to finish things more efficiently to meet the deadlines that were set.An example as to how we worked as a team is our use of coordinations of the tasks that were required in order to make the music video such as the camera handling,taking images and other things such as being the clipper.

Within our group other uses of teamwork was our sharing of ideas therefore helping us in making the decisions that were requiredin order to make a good music video.We also motivated each other in the roles that we assigned each and also gave each other support in order to make the tasks more efficient.

During the production of our music video we faced different problems such as noise within the locations that we were filming in however we found solutions as we found alternatives for example the solution for the noise within our filming location was solved when we went to a different location that was more quieter.We also faced problems with our lighting as we had to use efficient lighting in order to convey a good image within out music video thereore we increased the amount of lighting that we had. 

Due to the audience feedback I have learnt that inorder to make a good and successful music video different use of techniques should be used such as  effects in order to effectively engages audience as this makes the music video more interesting.Audience feedback also informed me that you should make your music video creative with good content in order to actively engage the audience.

During our construction stages we used new technologies as we used photoshop in making our story boards and our mood boards which helped us in deciding as to how we wanted to show things within our music video for example the colour of the clothing that we were going to use.For our research we also used new technologies as we used different websites in order to get information in which we inserted into our presentations within prezi.We also used new technologies in our planning and evaluation stage as we used blogger in storing the things that we had to do during the production of our music video.

Rihanna-we found love ft Calvin Harris

We found love is a song based on narrative about a young couple who face different episodes of love and heartbreak.Multiple cuts of the couple are shown to show their ups and downs as they face different days of love and hatred.As the video goes on scenes of the couple are shown doing different activities one of them being at the fairgrounds in which they are going round in a ride which adds a good effect to the lighting and other activity in the background.

The couple are also shown doing other fun activities such as eating at a fast food restaurant in which they start jumping around.However as the video continues the other side of the couple's relationship is shown including symbols which show the destruction of their relationship such as a falling building.

As the other side of the couple's relationship is emphasised use of drugs and various pills is shown between them as a symbol of the destruction to their relationship .However the  scenes are mixed around as they are not in an orderly manner or in other words they are not shown in one sequence.  

Another chorus then begins as it shows a two sided story since it shows the couple pushing each other in a cart and spraying each other with some cans and the other shows them arguing therefore indicating the words that Rihanna says at the beginning of the song of having good times due to the bad that they faced.

Difficulties within the relationship are then continuously shown in the video and then proceeds to violent and Rihanna is also shown vomiting to show the effect of the relationship and as the video proceeds to get tense Rihanna decides to leave and the video ends as this symbolises the destruction of the relationship.

Overall the music video is well structured and shows different scenes throught the video therefore making it unique and has solid and catchy lyrics along with symbolism which also add an effect to the music video.

Chroma key production

Chroma key is also known as green screen production.The production is the process whereby creation of images is done where the background or other objects which can be made transparent .Therefore this enables you to replace the background with a image.Therefore by filming a subject in front of a green screen the background can be cut out and replaced with another image.

An example of the usage of chroma key is the weather as the weather will not be standing in front of the map.Chroma key is also used in movies to enable the characters within the movie to appear flying or jumping buildings etc.Chroma keying therefore physically presents you in a place not in through the process of firstly producing a picture in a picture and then using editing software in order to make the images imerge with each other.

The two main colours used are green and blue as they are the furthest away from skin tone.In order to make the green screen operate correctly lighting is used in order to illuminate the green.Chroma key can also be created using video and video video on image.

Within the process of making our music video we made use of technology therefore we made use of things such as mobile phones to see what had to be done and when it had to be done within the lyrics on mobile phones.We also carried out discussions to know what we individually had to do in order to use our time more effectively during this filming period

Pre-production

Treatment

Our music video is going to have a variety of things that we are going to do as we are going to do performance,dance to make the use of the beat within the song and also narrative to tell a story from the lyrics.The overall look of the music video should convey effects that make the graphics excellent.The music video will consist of mixed emotions as the narrative will show some sadness scenes however the dance and performance will change the sadness to happiness as this will be entertaining therefore making a good mixture as audiences will enjoy the dance and performance however also notice the narrative as this mixture will make it stand out.

Location

We will have two locations within our music video one being the theatre and also the roof of Sidney Stringer academy building of which we have been given permission to use.We might also use green screen to add effects to our music video such as backgrounds if possible.All the locations we are going to use will have risks.The roof will carry the most risks and is the most dangerous as the worst case scenario will be someone falling off.The theater will have minor risks such as the lighting falling etc.

As all equipment is available in the school we do not need to set a budget for buying or renting any equipment.

Mise En Scene

Within our music video our aim will be to create a image that will go with the song and a modern look therefore we will use a mixture of dark and colourful colours to convey this.The characters within the song will therefore wear modern clothing however this won't apply to the narrative as we will need to convey a different message from this.Therefore as the narrative will have less modern clothing and cheap clothing to show that the characters are not fortunate as this is what we will be trying to convey in our narrative.

We will also use props in helping us to convey the message behind the song and to help us do certain things such as the performance and dance.Even though we will not apply any make-up this will be covered by the effects of the lighting that the video will consist therefore making the overall look of the video good and adding a good effect to the graphics of the video.

Last year's BTEC students

Last year's BTEC students did the song lose yourself by Eminem.They try to convey the message and image that was conveyed by eminem since they wear clothing that represents hip hop rappers fashion e.g jackets with hoods and hats.The location also represents hip hop culture by as they did a ghetto look so that the look goes on with the song.

They also used props for their advantage when they did their narrative by using the bench and wall.They don't use any lighting within the music video as this is covered by the sun which also adds an effects to the graphics.The characters use serious face expressions so that this goes with lyrics and the overall look of the music video.

Within the music video they also use different camera shots to film all the things required in the video and they also set the scenes that they use within their music video.For the narrative of the video they show a conversation between the two characters within the video.They also do hand gestures within their performance to go with the beat.
