Today's media lesson

Today consisted of different lessons as we learned about the 3 kinds of music videos one can have.These music videos include concept,narrative and performance which is when an artist performs a dance routine within the music videos.We also searched and analysed these types of videos to understand the concept behind them and to see how their different.

We also got the opportunity to practise lip singing in preparation for the music videos that we are meant to do by singing don't stop believing by the glee cast and we went into our groups for the making of music the  videos to discuss the possible songs that we could use and assigned each other to find the different unsigned music artists and mp3 music without music videos.

This lesson has gave us knowledge of the different kinds of videos and knowledge of the things that you should consider when making a music video.We also had the opportunity to plan and discuss as a team on what we are meant to do in order to make a good music video since you have to make a good choice of music that is unique so that it is something new.

Florence+The Machine-Rabbit Heart (raise it up) analysis

The song rabbit heart by Florence + The machine is based on a field and conveys a mysterious   message as to what the expression of the song is and it is refreshing as it is upbeat and captivates you from the start to finish due to the choreography that is done within this video.Florence wears a light green coloured dress to overcome the peach that the dancers are wearing as this makes her stand out to show her as the main character within the video.The cloth held in front of her face at the beginning is so she can be revealed as the main character.

Her unique hair colour also stands out making her more noticeable.As the main thing is to make her stand out of the crowd who is the dancers and the people within the video her make up also overcomes that of others and this has been done by the use of bright colours on her such as the red lipstick that she wears in the video.This video has also been based on a sunny day to make it bright in order to make the setting of the video a beutiful and heavenly place.This also helps the contrast and the graphics of the video therefore giving the video higher resoulution.

The lyrics of the song have a power behind them and applies to some people they have a powerful meaning.This powerful song was co-written by Florence together with Paul Epworth who also produced the song which was recorded by Mark Rankin.The upbeat background is fantastic due to the mixture of harps,flutes,guiters and quoirs.Overall the utmost thing that truly make rabbit heart is Florence's vocals.


The dance choreogrphy has also been done to go with the music and is detailed.The setting of fixtures and props are also well organised and enable them to do things that they need to do for example the part were Florence lies down on the table and the other people lift up the sides to make it into a coffin.Therefore the materials are also made to fulfill the choreography of the video.

Fat Boy Slim's song "Weapon of Choice”

Weapon of choice is a song by an English artist called Fat boy slim well known for this tremendous song that was part of an album called Halfway between the Gutter and the Stars. It is based on a tired and bored businessman (Christopher Walken) who sits in a hotel corridor with his baggage beside him, sitting on a chair. However he becomes aware of the sudden beat and strange singing rhythm that comes from the radio on a cleaning trolley. Suddenly and unexpectedly he launches into a dance and he continues to dance and fly around in the empty hotel to the music.

Since Christopher Walken was trained as a dancer in musical theatre prior to his acting career he did a variety of dance which he personally choreographed within the music video (weapon of choice).In the music video Christopher Walken also does dances such as tap dancing and other things such as a cartwheel. The song is also well known for its accompanied director Spike Jonze and is mostly interesting for most people due to the unexpected departure from their view of Walken as a villain since people cannot believe that he actually performs in the video.

Christopher Walken does an energetic performance within this video and the performance that he does is impressive for a man of his age. He is also very flexible which gives the whole performance a wonderful feeling and makes it entertaining. This is also a very comfortable and unique performance from Walken.

His use of props such as luggage trolleys and fixtures such as escalators and tables is also essential in the video and enables him to dance into the escalator as it goes up and down and helps him leap and kick away from the table. Therefore the fixtures enable him to do his dance moves more effectively. This video was filmed in the Marriott hotel in Los Angeles. The hotel provides a modern corporate of interior design and consists of dim lighting. This provides an interesting contrast and graphics to the camera work.

The camera is tilted according to the directions that Walken leans to so he is clearly in the video and moves fast so they can keep up as he runs around the building (hotel). They also do close-up so we can see him as he dances (especially as he does tap dancing so we can see the movement of his feet).

The purpose of the music video is to show that music can cheer people up in times of sadness and can make you have a wild moment of freedom. It also conveys that without music we return to our thoughts and troubles again as shown in the video when Walken returns wearily to his chair.
